How Seat Licensing Works

What Counts as a Seat?

A seat is an active user with the rep (steward) role on Local plans, or the nat (national staff) role on Union HQ plans.

  • Counts as a seat: Active stewards (rep), active national staff (nat)
  • Does NOT count: Grievants (members), deactivated users
  • Seat count syncs to Stripe automatically when you add/remove users

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Grievants (union members with active cases) never count as seats and never incur a charge. Only active stewards (rep role) on Local plans and active national staff (nat role) on Union HQ plans are billed as seats.

When your 30-day trial expires, your account enters read-only mode. You can still log in, view your cases, and download your data, but you cannot create new grievances, upload documents, or send messages. Subscribe to restore full access. No data is ever deleted when a trial expires.

Yes. You can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time through your billing portal. Annual billing saves up to 29% compared to monthly billing.

Absolutely. GrieveRight provides full data export functionality. Local administrators can download a complete export of all grievances, documents, messages, logbook entries, witness statements, and case history. The export is in standard formats that can be imported into other systems or archived for your records. Your data is your data — we will never hold it hostage.

No. Locals and solo stewards can sign up and start using GrieveRight independently. The system creates a lightweight organizational structure so your local can operate at all workflow stages. If your national union joins later, your local can link up to gain access to nationally-defined contracts and stages while keeping your existing data private.

Cancel anytime through your billing portal or the Stripe customer portal. Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. After cancellation, your account enters read-only mode — you can still access and download all your data. We do not delete data when you cancel.
